My name is Monica Phelps. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia (USA).
I graduated with honors from Berry College May 2013 with a Bachelors degree, majoring in Psychology and a minor in Education. I will begin a Masters program upon my return to the USA in July, once my internship at “El Pilar- Maristas” has come to an end.
I really do enjoy teaching English and finding a way to help individuals better understand and appreciate the English language. I have had much experience in teaching throughout my upper level education. My professional preparation includes many internships of all levels including: elementary school, middle school, high school, university, ESL and adults.
I have had a wonderful month teaching in Maristas and getting to know all of these incredible children and staff!!!! I feel truly blessed for this opportunity and look forward to what the rest of this year has to offer! I will be working closely on conversation skills with not just the students, but also with the teachers! I believe that the willingness of the teachers to learn from me and work along-side me, will create an incredible opportunity to enhance the overall English learning experience of the students. My goal is to assist the teachers in their classes to help the students gain confidence in speaking out loud, get a better understanding of the American culture, and improve their English conversation skills!
